Through my artistic journey, I believe the exploration of one’s values and expressing them as an art form is the underlying means of what it is to be an artist. There is a diversity of reasons in the creation of art (eg. fame, money, etc). However, I believe it dives deeper than an economic aspect and rather one’s identity. Thus, the art of oil painting has deeply influenced how I perceive myself as an individual and the relationships around me. Through my hard-earned lessons in oil painting, I have discovered the value of patience in life. Additionally, oil painting has constantly pushed me to reflect on my values and who I am as an individual. This confusion, anxiety, and doubt are all embraced through visual arts as it aids me in navigating my own life and becoming the person I want to be in the future.
